Triggering Material


Damen's canon comes with a number of content warnings, as does Damen himself. The following subjects are covered in his canon, and Damen's attitude to them is as follows. Please highlight for the details:

Slavery:	Damen comes from a culture where slavery is normalised and accepted. He was the Prince, but was betrayed, and was sold into slavery to his country's enemy. This has left him with a strong aversion to slavery and to everything that goes with it. When freed, he kept one of his golden cuffs on to remind him of the experience - it is worn on his left wrist, and looks like a shackle to which a chain can be attached. He's unlikely to open any conversation with talk of his enslavement, but he won't avoid it if he's asked.
Sexual Content:	His canon includes substantial sexual content, including consensual, non-consensual, and dubious consent. Damen has witnessed others being raped, as well as prostitution, and sex obtained through a signed contract. He is very much against rape, particularly rape of slaves, and he would not treat this subject lightly. He is also modest about sex, and would not raise it unless it was already relevant to the conversation. However, he is somewhat desensitised to it and would answer honestly if he were asked.
Child abuse:	His canon includes child sexual abuse, which Damen has not seen, but is aware of. He is unlikely to bring it up but will have a strong negative reaction if it comes up.
Violence:	Damen is from a violent canon. He has experienced beatings and restraint, and has been involved in war. He's not afraid of this topic and would speak of it quite freely.
Torture:	While enslaved, Damen experienced both physical and emotional abuse, including being flayed alive with a whip. This almost killed him and has left him with permanent, disfiguring scars on his back. This is not something he will be quick to discuss, but he'll be honest about it if he's asked, or if he sees someone else suffering the same thing.
Drugs:	Damen has personally been drugged several times, and has witnessed the same happen to others. He has also experimented with recreational drugs in his youth, though disliked the effects and did not continue with this. He would talk about this with reasonable freedom, aside from where it relates to his enslavement.
Death and suicide:	Damen has seen many people killed, and has personally killed more people than he could count. He is not afraid to kill and would not hesitate to admit that he had done so. He has seen his personal servants and slaves killed in front of him during his enslavement, and is aware of people who have committed suicide due to the events he was part of. He would be hesitant to talk about the part of this that relates to his enslavement, though would not hesitate about the rest. He is somewhat desensitised to this subject and is used to dealing with people who are equally used to it.

Please let me know if there is something you would like me to avoid mentioning in our tags, or if there is something you are comfortable with but only to a certain extent.
